My name is Eurenice, and I am from Benin, a small country in West Africa but also a French colony. I came to the United States only in 2010, and did my ESL at UIC. Being born and raised in Benin, French is my primary language. I grew up speaking french, did my entire education, from the pre-school to my bachelor degree in accounting in french. I participated in a great number of competitions in junior high school due to my high level of understanding of the language. Even though we have a different accent in Benin from French people, I am completely familiar with the French people accent because I have some branches of my family being from France and living with us in Benin. I also had many friends at school, from Paris. I myself visited Paris a couple of times, and lived there for a few months.
As far as my teaching experience is concerned, the answer is still in my background. My parents were both teachers. My mom is a primary school teacher, and my entire life I have been exposed to all the books she uses to teach. The teaching conditions in Benin being what they are, while in college, I used to grade some of the papers for my mom. When I was in middle school I used to replace her sometimes when she could not make to school. I learned from her that teaching comes from the heart. I had the opportunity to tutor numerous people even in high school, and the best method is to help the learner say the answer himself. I use pictures to help the student retain better vocabulary, grammar, or general concepts. For any student working with me French is a lot of fun.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
French is one of the languages derivative from the Latin language. French has a lot in common with English except in grammar: the grammar in French is a lot more complex than in English. The articles also obey a different rule than in English.
However despite the confusion French raises, the structure in French sentences is the same basic structure found in English. Plus knowing french makes Spanish easier to understand and vice versa.
