"Tutor with Real Life Work Experience has one GOAL, To Help You Learn!"
I’m a instructor of adults and senior citizens, with the emphasis in teaching the basics of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, also, Email and the Internet. My main goal in helping people to use computers is to try to maximize the time spent on computers by using them to increase overall efficiency.
I believe that the way to learning a subject is by doing. This means hands on training and projects to complete, for a better understanding of the material or subject matter. My job is to provide you with how to use the Computer and applications to get the job done and have you feel confident that you can do the same work on your own. I would rather you make mistakes with me then on your job or at school.
Even though I don't have a teaching degree, I have 4 years' experience at a non-profit organization; in other words, I compensate for proper training with excellent communications and interpersonal skills to interface with individuals across a diverse range of social backgrounds and cultures. My tutoring methods could be best summarized as straightforward yet very hands-on.
Some of the feedback I have received from class participants--"very patient," "excellent communication skills, “able to take complex information and break it down into manageable and easily understood concepts, easy to work with and a sense of humor". In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
