I am a multi-dimensional executive who runs my own consulting organization internationally. I want to spend some time tutoring on business, writing and public speaking because these are things that I pride myself on doing extremely well. I know that I am an excellent teacher, exhibit patience and am thoughtful and considerate. I have a good way about me in treating people with respect and ensure that people get the concepts. Part of the art of business and it is an art is using listening skills to understand what people are saying and then feeding them back answers that help them think through the problem and or issue at hand.
I have been a consultant for years so my interactive, listening, conversational, presentation, one-on-one skills are excellent. Working with students has not been something that I have done a lot of, but I know that I'm good at it because kids just like me and we talk a lot. Throughout my life I have had an ability to relate to all types of people, so I think I'll be a successful tutor and students will benefit from interacting with me.
I have an economics degree and an MBA and while this educational experience is excellent, I have not lost the capability to relate learning to many. I think and relate concepts to everyday life experiences so that people can get the concepts and move on. I like seeing the lightbulb go off. I have lived in NY, Chicago, Paris and Madrid. I speak Spanish although just conversationally at best. I am a multi-dimensional executive who runs my own consulting organization internationally. I contacted Kevin a week after failing my graduate level corporate finance mid-term (55%). In desperation, I found this website, which led me to Kevin. Finance, up until this point, was more like Latin to me. After my first meeting with Kevin, I had a much clearer understanding of the course material. With three weeks left til the final exam, Kevin not only re-taught me everything through the mid-term, but also the material on the final as well. My final grade in the course was a B-. Kevin is patient, knowledgable, and extremely proficient in the subject matter he's teaching. He is worth every penny and you won't be disappointed!!!
Kevin is a great tutor, whenever I meet with him we go through learning objectives fundamentally and theoretically before we break it down into answers to questions. He aims to give the student a complete conceptual understanding instead of just the answers to questions. One of the ways he does this is by using the knowledge you already have in other skills to facilitate learning. For me, he uses my experience in accounting to help me with learn finance, on the surface the correlation is there, however Kevin dives deep to help you discover knowledge you may not have even known is there. Kevin has been my #1 asset this semester and my understanding of finance would wane greatly if it wasn't for tutoring sessions with Kevin.
I am currently enrolled in grad school at Argosy University. Kevin had tutored me for an entire semester in Financial Management. He was one of the most patient tutors I have ever worked with. He was punctual and prompt upon each meeting. I had initially contacted numerous tutors, and Kevin had responded immediately, and was ready to meet the very next day. It was a comforting feeling working with someone who was so reliable. Being a student in a graduate level, Kevin was able to work with me and complete each assignment on a weekly basis. I would recommend Kevin to any student who is looking for a patient, reliable, and knowledgeable tutor.
I had a lesson with Kevin in which we barely got anywhere on the homework, and I learned nothing. He did not seem to know the material, and it often felt like he was guessing on basic problems. I would highly recommend not choosing him. His tutoring style is rude, and the entire time it feels like he is just trying to get money out of you. Honestly, you will be better off teaching yourself then going to him.
I cant say enough great things about Kevin's tutoring. I am 6 classes in while getting my MBA from Loyola University, but hadn't taken a Finance course yet. I got a 57% on the Midterm and knew I needed help badly! I began going to see Kevin as often as possible (sometimes 2x/week). He wasn't intimidating, but also made sure that I left with the ability to explain the mechanics of the material studied. I appreciated that he didn't just provide another lecture, he really let me talk through the problems so he could pinpoint what was clicking - and what wasn't. Such a success story - got an A on the final! and overall then received a B in the class.
Upon search of assistance, I was looking for quality service. In my mind, $50 dollars was a reasonable price for a tutor whom could help me. Mr. Kevin stated he is charging for the “hour worth of work as I was 45 minutes late for my appointment.” I am not sure what that means, but I did contact him and he made it seem like it was okay. I am completely astounded because I am still stuck at point one yet Mr. Kevin walks away with 50 dollars. There were two things I recall Mr. Kevin asked me in the session which was what is standard deviation? Also, what does probability of successes mean? Other than that we were stuck on one problem for an answer with no further guidance. As a student and single parent I was overcharged because Mr. Kevin could not provide help.
Communication- there was not much communication about the lesson at all. More personal communication was done than actually getting the lesson taught.
Punctuality- He was on time at site.
Expertise- He lacked expertise and made a comment that “he hasn’t done this in years.” In reference to my Data Analysis Class (probability, standard deviation, mean, etc)
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I own a consulting firm that works with businesses, start-up through Fortune 500, helping them structure and optimize their business operations. I focus on service industries, develop plans and diagnose structural problems to become more efficient. I work with Boards of Directors and senior staff on establishing strategies developing root cause analysis, identifying acquisition and growth strategies.
As an owner of a consulting business and an executive, I have counseled numerous individuals from a career perspective. I have given guidance to them on directions they should take in terms of personal interests, skills and capabilities and passions.
I have helped people structure more effective resumes and cover letters and prepared individuals from entry level professionals all the way through senior executives on presenting themselves effectively for opportunities they desire.
Additionally, I have evaluated several personality based software applications for use in online hr solutions/recruiting businesses, and have advised a senior executive in the business on several opportunities which will enhance the company's ability to provide career development opportunities for its customers.
I bring a wealth of indirect experience in the career development area. Additionally, I have evaluated hundreds of resumes for positions in companies that I have either led or been employed by, so I think my career development skills are well versed and can help people.
I have an MBA in finance and economics, and I have done work on several market research projects throughout my career on either businesses and getting them structured or on specific topics that organizations need fundamental research on in order to build a strong business case and substantiate a claim or product attribute. While these skills aren't related to econometric methods from a macro-economic perspective, they are absolutely relevant to econometric methods from a micro-economic perspective. I have written and structured throughout my career several research papers for clients and for both my undergraduate and graduate degree programs. So I feel that my skill in this area is very good and that I will be able to tutor students in this area well. Thanks, Kevin
I have an MBA in finance from Kellogg and have worked in finance for years in industry and as a consultant to the office of the CFO for clients. My experience and knowledge of finance is broad and includes both academic and practical sides of the finance equation. As my profile states, I'm a patient tutor, so combining my experience and personality yields a very good way in which to tutor finance. Hope to see you soon.
My study skills are excellent, and I have perfected them over the years as I have worked on several project management assignments which require me to schedule out the work at hand, keep abreast of all documentation that is being produced in the project, summarize the performance of the project and report the project performance and key issues and concerns to clients so that they can take action. These skills are similar skills that a student should acquire and use in their course work, so that they can perform well. I know the success in project management is based upon frequent and almost daily review of the tasks and assignments at hand and I feel these attributes and the methods I use are consistent with excellent study skills for students.
