About Jason

Since I was a young boy reading fantastical comic books and learning new words by necessity, I found that loving the English language can be easy if the subject is interesting. I have spent the last several years trying to transfer that love and ease to others who have been struggling with writing or taking tests in English.

In addition to improving test scores and communication skills, I enjoy inspiring and training my students and clients to apply critical and creative thinking skills to all areas of their lives. I have years of experience teaching and tutoring at every age and grade level, and love to collaborate on pushing boundaries of what was previously thought impossible by the client.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I'm a student of theology and New Testament scholarship. I am a former Sunday School teacher, church youth leader, and sometimes preacher. I write a lot about the role that the Bible takes in the current landscape.

English

I have a National Tutoring Certificate (2016, from the NTA). I have tutored English as my primary job at a community college for seven years. My BA is in Teaching of English (University of Illinois) and my Masters is in Linguistics (Northeastern Illinois).
