Shanghai University (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language)
DePaul University (MEd)
I'm a native Chinese speaker from Shanghai, China. I graduated from DePaul University majoring in Education. My undergraduate program is Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, which mainly focuses on Chinese linguistics and culture. I have a degree of teaching Chinese and international Chinese teaching certificate.
I was a Mandarin teacher in Chicago high school and was working as a Chinese tutor at DePaul University. I have teaching experiences in Mandarin and other subjects for more than three years. I have taught different age students from kindergarten to college.
I was teaching in Hyde Park Chinese School for two years and am a private tutor.
I used to be a volunteer in Junior Achievement China and taught elementary students about world trade. During my undergraduate years, I had some experiences in teaching international students Chinese in my university, and I also was an after-school tutor. I had a student from America now working in Shanghai who learned Chinese from me, and we two had a lot of fun while communicating Chinese and different cultures.
In China, I was working in an English school as a TA and English teacher. It was an unforgettable time with my little kids and I really enjoyed studying and growing with them.
In my own opinion, Chinese teaching is not only about language but also a culture and history study. I would like to be a teacher after graduating and hope to contact with more people who are interested in Chinese. I look forward to the time sharing experience of Chinese learning and teaching in the United States.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a native Chinese speaker with a bachelor degree in Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language, and a Master degree in Education from DePaul University. I also have a certificate for Chinese teaching. I have taught students of different levels and ages from pre-school to adults. I have experience in teaching Chinese and other tutoring for more than four years.
