About Neda

Hello,

Thanks for stopping by. If you've come across my page on this website, chances are you are looking for a quality math tutor.

Are you a high school student preparing for the college entrance exams like the ACT and/or the SAT/SAT Subject tests? I would be glad to help you with those. We would do a number of practice exams modeled after the actual test, and by familiarizing yourself with the content of the test as well as with the most effective strategies to get the correct answers, you will be in much better shape going in for the test. I will identify your weak points, and we will spend time focusing on them until you have reached a level of understanding that would make the questions comprehensible and much easier to solve.

Are you a student in school (1st - 12th grade) needing a little (or a lot of) help to stay afloat in your current class? Are you getting a satisfactory grade, but would like to see an A on your report card? Would you like to place out of a course you are taking now, and need help preparing for a placement exam? You are in good hands. I have had plenty of experience in helping students succeed in all of the above goals. I am familiar with the general course structure of all high school math classes, and would be able to quickly supply you with the relevant practice problems as well as step-by-step methods of solution and explanations. I would also give you encouragement and motivation, and will strive to enable you to see math from a different, positive perspective.

Math was an easy A for me because I was fortunate to have among others a superb teacher (my dad, officially a physics professor). I wish to impart the gift to you, and I look forward to working with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

Ordinary Differential Equations - Basic Diff. Eq classification/integration techniques/Boundary value problems

I have tutored this class to college students while attending the last year of my undergraduate studies, and during my graduate residency. We covered topics dealing with specific applications of differential equations (ie. the heat equation and harmonic motion of oscillating springs), as well as different methods for solving equations and systems (iterative integration, separation of variables, method of undetermined coefficients etc.).
