Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Psychology

I have a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

I have taught the following classes to undergraduates:

Introduction to Psychology;
Introduction to Cognitive Psychology;
Introduction to Personality Psychology;
Introduction to Research Methods;
Introduction to Statistics;
Health Psychology; and
History of Psychology.

SPSS

I have used SPSS for more than 10 years to analyze experimental data in cognitive psychology. My expertise in SPSS includes:

descriptives(including histograms),
t-tests,
ANOVAs of all types,
regression analyses,and
chi-squared and other non-parametric analyses.

Please inquire about additional SPSS tests.

Statistics

I have taught elementary statistics to undergraduates at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and at Webster University, in St. Louis, MO.

I use statistics and SPSS regularly in my work as a psychological researcher at Northwestern University. I am most familiar with descriptive statistics, simple comparisons (t-tests, ANOVAs and non-parametric tests), multiple anovas, and regression.

Study Skills

I received my PhD in Cognitive Psychology in 2008. Cognitive psychology is the study of learning, memory, decision making and other thinking processes. In my 9-to-5 job, I research how people learn and propose experiments to test new theories of learning. I am a lifelong student who enjoys learning and teaching others how to maximize their learning potential.
