“**Dheeraj Ravi - Great tutor / focused and produces results**”

Hello! My name is Dheeraj; I'm a graduate of Swarthmore College and currently a business school student at the University of Chicago. Through the Philadelphia Teaching Fellows Program, I've taught high school math for 2 years and test prep for 5. I've also worked with The Johns Hopkins University CTY Summer Program as a Resident Assistant and

I found him very knowledgeable about math and a few other subjects as well. He is patient, kind and helped me achieve my goals. Great strategies for taking SAT tests! My scores in practice tests are already up by 100 points in Math! Highly recommend Dheeraj for you or your children.

Dheeraj helped my daughter prepare for the SAT test for a period of over six months. He has a strong mathematical foundation, great ability to relate to the student and pinpoint week areas. Dheeraj was methodical and consistent in targeting week areas that my daughter was experiencing. My daughter's score increased by 400+ points. We are ecstatic that she has been admitted to all the colleges that she applied for and made her choice to one of them this week.

I give Dheeraj an outstanding recommendation and would recommend him without any hesitation!

Dheeraj didn't only help with strategies for the exam, but with my confidence level as well. I can't count how many great instructors I've had over the years with great forms of approaching math problems but with no assistance to my mental stability. D gave both, making the necessary approach for the exam much more accessible.

This was my first experience with a tutor and a surprisingly pleasant one at that. My situation was a bit different from what I expect is the situation of most of his clients. I came to him as a 22 year old working full time and who has been out of high school for four years. Deciding it was time for me to start taking college courses I knew there was a lot of material I had forgotten over the years. I explained my situation and Dheeraj got me started right away evaluating what I already knew and going from there. He makes a point to always move at my pace and to be conscious of where I am and not where I "should be". And the amount of patience he shows when confronted with my many questions is refreshing when compared to the lackluster attitude of my prior teachers. No matter how absurd or silly he takes the time to answer my questions and if he does not understand what I am asking he never ceases to try and figure out. I would recommend Dheeraj to anyone who needs help in understanding math or just needs a refresher of old material they have forgotten.

Daheeraj met with my daughter weekly to prepare her for her SATs. She liked him a lot and said he was very patient with her. He showed her great strategies for taking the SATs. He helped bring her math score up 50 points from her previous scores!! I would highly recommend him and plan on using him again when my son takes his SATs.

So far my daughter is impressed with her lessons and anxious to improve her SAT test scores.

Dheeraj met with me on such short notice and was extremely prepared to answer all of my questions. I would recommend him to anyone.

Such a great person, and very patient! Even when I didn't understand a problem, he had no problem explaining it as many times as I needed. I would recommend him to anyone!

I have seen improvement in my daughter's Geometry and Physics grades as well as confidence level since she began her tutoring sessions with Mr. R. Mr. R is well prepared for his sessions,

incorporating PowerPoint as a visual aid in reviewing the material. She states that he reviews the material in a simplified manner in which is understood. He is excellent!

Smart guy-has good command of the material; a real teacher and mentor. I highly recommend him for math tutoring.

Dheeraj clearly prepared thoroughly before meeting with me. He was extremely useful and has a variety of resources to work with. I feel much more confident about my exam coming up after seeking his help. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

Honestly I used to be scared of Algebra 1. But with Dheeraj's good pointers and encouragement, I did well in my school tests. It has been a confidence boost! I can't thank you enough. I am so happy!

Thank you Dheeraj. You SIMPLIFIED my lessons!! And I think I am starting to get it!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I taught Algebra 1 at the 9th grade level during my time as a teacher. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the curriculum and have accumulated a wide variety of resources addressing all levels of difficulty. I have seen first-hand the problems students have with different concepts and can present new material in a number of ways, depending on what the student is most comfortable with.

This course is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions. Algebra 2 is vital for students’ success on the ACT, SAT 2 Math, and college mathematics entrance exams.

Geometry can be very esoteric, but it can also be very interesting if taught in the right way. After teaching it for two years at a high school level, it is really important to approach difficult concepts with practical application.

My approach to tutoring the GREs is to focus on your weak areas, while reinforcing your strengths. The GRE does not test any math past the 10th grade, but it does come up with tricky questions so the important thing is using the best test-taking techniques. The verbal section is focused on figuring out vocabulary with relation to context clues and developing strong reading comprehension skills. The writing section assesses whether you can concisely write two 30-minute organized essays. I am confident that I can help you significantly improve your scores in all three areas.

Microsoft Excel is an extremely powerful spreadsheet tool and may initially seem confusing, but with a little practice, can perform many diverse functions. I am confident that I will be able to help you master this versatile application and ensure it meets all your business and personal needs.

Microsoft PowerPoint is an extremely effective tool for presentations and some quick easy tips go a long way. The amount of customizations you can make are endless. This is why hiring a tutor makes more sense than individually trying it, which leads to a lot of time lost. Practical experience working through concrete examples coupled with theory is the best instruction and what I know to be most effective.

I have taken the Praxis 1 and received 99th percentile in all three categories. I had to take the Praxis 2 Math Test (0061) to become a high school math teacher. I was in the Top 15%. I tutored two students with the high school subject test before as well as one student in the middle school test (0069). Both students successfully passed, and I was able to build up an invaluable set of resources for future students of all ability levels.

Prealgebra is the foundation for all secondary level math. It is vital that the math fundamentals are present for any student in order to become successful in any capacity. Obviously, most people will not go on to become rocket scientists, but a solid understanding of fractions, decimals, and percentages is essential to functioning in everyday life.

I taught precalculus as a high school math teacher and am extremely comfortable with all the material. Even though the material might look hard initially, with the proper instruction and right practice, you will master the concepts and even enjoy solving problems!

SAT Math only uses math topics up to 10th grade. There are no confusing subjects like calculus or trigonometry. Instead, I will focus on honing your test-taking abilities with relation to SAT techniques. Being able to identify what the problem is asking and what steps you need to take to solve the problem are critical. I sincerely believe that I can help you increase your score significantly.

You can show the most improvement on the Writing Section because the SAT tests certain grammatical concepts and re-uses a lot of them. If you have practice identifying these errors, you can outsmart the SAT on this section! With my resources and past experiences, I guarantee a significant increase in your scores. Having received tutoring myself for an SAT II Subject Test, I can personally attest to the potential gains to be made by working with a tutor, since my score improved.

Trigonometry might seem like a really tough subject (just the name scares people!), but it's actually intuitive and follows the same logical rules that other math concepts follow. With exposure to many different problems and situations, anyone can become an expert.
