Adrian College (Fine Art and English)
the school of the art institute of chicago (Master's)
I received my MFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago In May 2010, and my BFA from Adrian College (MI) in Fine Arts (Painting and Drawing) and English/Literature in April 2008.
At both schools, I was employed as a Writing and English Tutor. For the last two years at SAIC, I tutored students from all areas of study with all stages of the writing process, including brainstorming, forming a thesis, organization, and final editing and grammar.
I have tutored largely with students who speak English as a second language, and have also worked with students at all stages in their academic careers, from college freshmen to post-Doctoral scholars.
I currently write for an online art magazine, and am a practicing artist, working and exhibiting in Chicago. I am trained in painting, drawing and art history, and also have experience with multimedia artwork. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
