Hi there! I'm Kim, a grad student at UIUC on medical leave. I've been tutoring my friends and peers, helping them with homework, test prep, and essay writing for as long as I can remember. I truly love helping people understand difficult and confusing topics; seeing that spark of recognition in a student's face when we get through a tricky problem together is one of my favorite things in the world. I truly love helping people understand difficult and confusing topics; seeing that spark of recognition in a student's face when we get through a tricky problem together is one of my favorite things in the world. I have a patient, caring approach and I promise to repeat, rephrase, simplify, and revisualize any problem as many times as needed to help you meet your learning goals.
I'm an engineering student, so I'm best suited to help with math or science learners, but I'm a strong writer and I'm quite well-read, so I firmly believe I can help you with just about any subject. I'm also a test prep wizard who scored in the 90th-99th percentile on the GRE, the ACT, and several APs. I don't have much formal teaching or tutoring experience, but I've been helping my classmates with their studies since I was in grade school. Today, many of my closest friends are people I met through study sessions in college, and I hope to make the most of my time off from my graduate studies by tutoring all over the Chicago area.
Please reach out if you think we'd be a good fit because I can't wait to hear from you!
Math has never come easily to me and it was never my favorite subject, but I've had a lot of success thanks to my persistence and my knack for breaking down a big problem into its simplest components. I've been helping my friends and peers with math homework my whole life, and I can provide the patient, encouraging help you need to get through any math subject.
There's nothing I love more than working through physics problems, and I'm sure I can teach you to find problem solving fun and rewarding! I graduated with dean's list distinction from one of the most prestigious nuclear engineering programs in the country, so I firmly believe I've seen just about everything a physics instructor can throw at you. I'll help you succeed in
