Hey there, I'm Jonathan! I graduated from Duke University with a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering degree in Biomedical Engineering, and a minor in Computer Science. I have extensive tutoring experience throughout my educational career. When I was in high school, I founded a non-profit organization where I donated all of the money that I made from tutoring to the Children's Hospital in LA to support cancer research. And when I was in college, I was a Teaching Assistant for a freshman engineering class multiple times, where one of my primary responsibilities was holding weekly office hours to help students with their assignments and ensure they understood the material. There are few things that I love more than tutoring - one of the best feelings in the world for me is seeing the light go off in someone's head when they understand something. Helping students feel more confident in themselves and achieving results they know that they're capable of is what motivates me as a tutor, and it's why I enjoy it as much as I do. Even for classes that I was taking as a student, both in high school and in college, my classmates would always look to me to help them understand difficult concepts and to help prepare them for exams. In college, my friends would jokingly call me the Teaching Assistant because they'd always come to me for help.
Although I have excelled across all subjects throughout my academic career, my favorite and best subject has always been math, and that is the subject I've primarily focused on as a tutor. I make sure to create a tailored plan for each and every student I work with - I appreciate that every student learns differently, and I focus on finding what method or way of teaching the material works best for each student. I've helped all of the students I've worked with significantly improve their grades, and my ability to quickly understand their style of learning leads to immediate results.
At the end of the day, I want to help as many students as possible find success and gain confidence
