I'm experienced in instructing students at the college level in introductory sociology and basic statistics courses. I've received ratings of "excellent" from past students, and I thoroughly enjoy engaging and teaching students the "how" and "why." Throughout my own high school and undergraduate experience, I was also an informal tutor, which taught me how to communicate complicated ideas in ways that students can understand.

My personal goal is to equip students with the tools to help them succeed after we are done working together. I sincerely hope that the people I work with are able to think more critically and be able to achieve higher education goals. I like to think my teaching style is warm and patient, while also being direct and informative. My favorite aspect of tutoring is seeing a student's progress. Learning challenging topics is frustrating, and I understand that. So, seeing a student succeed is satisfying for all of us!

I have experience in tutoring basic math and algebra. I tutored these subjects while I was in high school with students at-risk for failing. These students often needed to backtrack and learn basic math before tackling more complex algebra problems. I also have a bachelor's degree in economics and I have taught introductory statistics at the college level, so I have experience in applied math, and I'm familiar with statistical programming in Stata.

My graduate and undergraduate specialization is in global and transnational sociology. This area of sociology leans heavily on understanding world and US history to better understand the dynamics of the globe in the present day. I've read extensively on industrialization, colonization, and the growth of the global economy. For high schoolers, I have a general interest I history, and I have also taken and received a 5 on the AP US History exam. I would be able to help students understand these exams and excel in understanding these topics.

I'm experienced and excited to work with students. I truly want you to be successful a
