Hi, my name is Jermaine, and I feel that education is too standardized. I have a Bachelor’s in Political Science, and was always leading group projects and study sessions during my time in college. This background has led me to a point where I feel that I am able to gauge how best to reach specific individuals, so that they reach their potential.
In the group project context, this individual approach helped ensure that the group received the best grade possible. In the tutoring context, I see a student’s performance in the classroom as a direct reflection on my knowledge and abilities, and thus will strive to ensure that each student is ready for any challenge which may arise in that subject.
I believe that while knowledge in many cases is very objective, the attainment of knowledge is very subjective. This belief leads me to a very individualized approach that attempts to relate whatever a student needs to learn into a knowledge base that they already have and/or enjoy.
On top of bringing new knowledge into a construct which the student already understands, this approach has the benefit of allowing a student to see how a single piece of information or single process can be applied to multiple disciplines. And in many cases, this realization of a topic’s usage allows students to gain a greater focus because of the enhanced value of what they are learning. I am very happy the way Jermaine is teaching me. He is very knowledgeable about the two subjects (Economics and Psychology)I am getting tutored on. I will honestly recommend him to everyone.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's in Political Science which required a significant amount of concentration on key points in American History.
I am best qualified to aid students from K-10, and those taking their U.S. Citizenship Test
When it comes to this subject, I believe that the most important thing is being able to break down what can be some overly complicated concepts into their most basic parts.
This philosophy is one that I apply in many subjects, but I think is especially well-suited to this one.
And whether we are talking about my time pursuing a degree in Business Management, my time as an Marketing major, or my stint in Hospitality Management, I was always performing well in my business courses primarily by striping the subject down layer-by-layer.
I have progressed from there, to being constantly, and deeply involved with the financials of the organizations which I work with. I also spend a significant amount of time remaining up-to-date on the latest business trends and economic data.
Simply put, this is a subject which can easily be over taught, and I work to reduce the technicality of it.
I studied economics extracurricular throughout my entire college career, and took two courses.
All of this study has given me a deep grasp on the fundamental concepts, and an understanding of the detailed issues of this subject
This subject was always one that I enjoyed, and which I was asked by teachers to help my fellow students with.
I am able to help students from K-12 in this subject.
I have a Bachelor's in Political Science, do campaign work, and remain up-to-date on current events.
I am qualified to help people in this subject from K-College.
Marketing at its most basic levels tends to be a lot of terminology, and a few practical projects. When it comes to the terminology side of things, I have always had the ability to remember a large amount of terms, use different methods to keep them straight, and ensure that they are easily understood.
The practical projects in this subject tend to be nothing more than applying the terminology and concepts which are taught in the book and the classroom. To this end, I have always had the ability to quickly find the real world application for most topics, and relate it to most people.
Currently, I am involved in marketing myself and a nationally known business as an Independent Sales Rep, and am deeply involved with the fundraising for a local non-profit.
In both of these capacities, marketing, promotions, and public relations are very important to my success. So, on top of the success I had with this subject in school, I am using this knowledge in the real world on a daily basis.
I excelled in my philosophy courses during college. Thus, I would be able to help anyone struggling through their introductory philosophy courses.
I took and passed the required Speech course which is necessary for most undergraduate degrees.
However, my knowledge in this subject comes more from the professional and philanthropic activities which I have undertaken since my college days.
In these roles, I have consistently taken tasks which have required me to speak in front of groups which range from a Board Room of 20, to fundraising events of 100+.
I combine these experiences with having been a weekly contributor on a local radio station.
This wide array of experiences has given me the ability to deal with making prepared statements which almost have to be delivered word-for-word, as well as delivering speeches which have a general theme and customizable content, as well as speeches which are completely spontaneous.
In any case, this background gives me the ability to relate to basically any speaking situation, and customize a strategy for it.
My qualification in this arena comes from personal experience.
Being that I am visually impaired and have attained a bachelor's degree, I would love to help any visually impaired students who are struggling in the subjects for which I am certified.
I always excelled at vocabulary, mostly through the use of contextual understanding.
I am also skilled at teaching words through their relation to already understood vocabulary, as well as building vocabulary through word games.
