Academia is a vital cornerstone to achieving success and feeling fulfilled in our lives. Within our current education system, public education is a great first step in self-development, but some students need a second source of guidance to fully grasp and retain concepts. As a perpetual student and avid educator, I fully realize the diverse needs of students and various methods of implementing education. Through my help, I promise to give a positive outlet to my students and become an uplifting mentor with support and confidence.

I feel confident that I can motivate and aspire students because I have had previous experiences as a tutor and mentor. From June 2013 to 2014, I had been hired by DePaul University as a Course Assistant in the Department of Chemistry to hold weekly review sessions, hold my own office hours and provide further assistance as an aid to the professor. In addition, I received great feedback from my students, stating that my support solidified concepts through practice and repetition. With that said, I have received my Bachelor's in Science in Biochemistry from DePaul University.

My strongest subjects are math and science. In the past, I have taken the ACT and received a score of 36 in math and a 34 in science (I have copies of my results if you need proof) through hard work and dedication. I fully believe that I can lead students to succeed just as I had in the past, but only if the student desires the results and puts the appropriate effort toward their goal. I have also received a 4 in BC Calculus and a 5 in AB Calculus from the College Board of Advanced Placement Exam. Within the sciences, I have taken the AP exams for biology, chemistry and physics and received a 4 in all three subjects. Again, all proof will be provided if asked for in person.

Education is a serious matter, but the educating mentor's demeanor is also crucial. I believe education is a privilege and right for every citizen, and so I incorporate compassion and patience in my method for achieving academic success. After all, there is no point to lessons that inherently lack pain. We learn best from hardship and mold ourselves to our best version through trial. The process of achieving our goals may be cumbersome and tedious, but the end results and success far outweighs the fleeting pain. If you want to learn and retain, it has to be fun! I always try to mix fun in the process so if you're into that, I think we will be a great match!

Good luck in your endeavor toward success!

Biology,

Biology

The best way to understand biology is by creating a story board for yourself. Biology innately has a lot of memorization with it, just because the subject is a description of various processes and their key players associated to it. The only way to really get a firm understanding is by reading the book and talking about the concepts with a peer/tutor. I have taken the AP biology exam when I was in high school and I have received a 4 in the exam. The steps to succeeding on this exam are not too difficult, but it does require dedication and ample time to understand concepts.
Calculus,

Calculus

Calculus may seem very dull in understanding the "why" component: why are we doing this linearization and what are we supposed to use calculus for in our daily lives? The various functions and limits that are graphed in calculus have a real-time tie with reality, but not everyone notices this simply because it really is hard to determine since you cannot ever physically see it. But through my guidance, I can show you how various functions tie in with physics and the velocity of a car on a highway and various other methods. I have taken the AP Calculus BC exam in high school and received a 4 with a subscore of 5 for the AB portion of the exam. Given time and practice, you can achieve the same results if you work hard!
Chemistry,

Chemistry

Chemistry can seem to be a difficult topic with a lot of numbers and intrinsic "traits" associated with different elements. These traits can seem to be a lot of memorizing rules, but once you understand the electron structure and aspects of certain elements, chemistry does not become so hard. The topics shown here are fundamental in understanding and pursuing other higher levels of science, so it is imperative to understand the basics before trying to move on to organic chemistry, biochemistry and so on. I have taken AP Chemistry when I was a high school student (I received a 4 on the AP exam - test results can be provided if necessary) and I have received my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. So with this said, I believe that I can fully support a student's plight in discovering chemistry.

ACT Math

I have taken the ACT test numerous times and have done well on the ACT math section. Specifically, I have received a 34 a few times and have once received a 36 on the ACT Math section (I have test result records if you need proof). From my experience, you have to take a lot of practice tests and also time yourself during the test to gauge your results with real-time conditions. But I will also be able to help with finding easy tactics to find answers quickly by taking advantage of the multiple choice options. The key to succeeding this portion of the exam is to find answers quickly and recognize which answers are tricks. All these tactics will be shown to you through tutoring and repetition, if you choose me as your tutor!

ACT Science,

ACT Science

In order to do well on the science section of the ACT test, you have to preemptively read the questions to locate where key words are within the given passage. You must also be able to analyze a graph with data and examine various trends that occurred over time or whatever the experiment is determining. I will help you to examine trends and determine results and hopefully help you bypass reading any of the passages to save time. This exam will not always have the same types of passage, but their questions from graphs and information will always have a trick to finding the answers easily, through my guidance.
Biochemistry,

Biochemistry

Biochemistry is the fundamental understanding of bodily functions tied in with organic chemistry topics. Enzymes and catalyzed reactions rely heavily on different intermolecular bonds through various hydrogen bonding, dipole moments and the presence of acid or base. These topics may seem daunting at first due to their complexity, but once they are dissected, step-by-step, they are much easier to understand. My undergraduate degree was in Medicinal Chemistry/Biochemistry so I have a firm understanding of this topic.

Great Tutor

My children were very hesistant about tutoring. .. Actually were really mad at me about hiring andrew.. Andrew coached my daughter to raise her math act score and my son on ap geometry.. Both my children were surprised how much they enjoyed the session( as much as a teenager can on a sunday afternoon).. My son who was the most vocal about this tutoring session said the only tutor he would work with again is andrew. That speaks volumes! Thank you

Amazing improvement!

My son's chem grades improved largely mostly due to Andrew's teaching skills. It motivated my son, and he went from almost dropping out of chem honors to finishing the school year with a B+ !! Forever grateful and highly recommended!

Very helpful!

Andrew was very helpful explaining the Chemistry lessons to my daughter and making it easy for her to understand and apply those learning's in class. She is much more confident and relaxed about taking her upcoming quiz. Andrew has a great demeanor and I am sure we will reach out to Andrew for more help as needed in the future!

Without hesitation, this is your guy

Andrew has accomplish in 1 hour more than my student's teacher has in an entire semester. His approach and technique works with my 16-year old daughter. He has brought back her desire to success in chemistry and not feel so defeated.
