Hello/Bonjour, potential student! I have 6 1/2 years of experience as a French teacher, most recently having taught at a private Catholic high school. In addition to my teaching experience, I have done official public school district homebound instruction (for students that cannot attend regular high school for health related reasons) for 2 years. I tutored officially after school for students on campus as well, in various subjects. I have been tutoring through WyzAnt for over 8 years now and very much enjoy it!

My philosophy of tutoring is to tailor the lessons to meet your needs. Every student learns in his or her own way and I do my best to present the topics in the way that works best for each.

I have both lived and taught (English as foreign language) in France, and enjoy helping students from all different backgrounds. I graduated from Missouri State University with a 3.62 overall (4 point scale), thus I feel that I am qualified to tutor in many areas. At the end of December 2014, I earned my Masters in Educational Technology, with distinction.

I look forward to helping you achieve success in your subjects, so please contact me as soon as you are ready to learn!

Online tutoring hours available for late night help, even on short notice--just ask!

My schedule fluctuates often and fills quickly (first come, first serve basis), thus the calendar on here may not reflect actual availability.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT English

I have helped numerous students improve in ACT English. I offer help with timing issues, grammar points, strategies, and more. Having also taught ESL while living and working in France, I can also help non-native speakers with ACT English.

ACT Math

I have helped numerous students improve in the ACT math section--it is the part of the test for which I am most often requested, thus I have the most experience with it. I have taught math entrance test preparation courses (for university level) and have been doing private tutoring in math since I was in high school (20+ years ago).

ACT Reading

I have helped many students improve in the reading section of the ACT over the past 8+ years. Having this level of experience, I can typically pinpoint the issues easily and give students individualized strategies.

ACT Science

I have helped many students improve in the science section of the ACT. Because this section varies so widely in content, I help students mainly focus on strategies and timing to produce the best possible score.

Algebra 1

Before I knew I was going to teach French, I was originally going to become a math teacher. I have had numerous students tell me that I should teach math (at their schools), as they really enjoy my step-by-step, simple breakdown method. I have helped numerous people conquer their fear of math.

Algebra 2

Before I knew I was going to teach French, I was originally going to become a math teacher. I have had numerous students tell me that I should teach math (at their schools), as they really enjoy my step-by-step, simple breakdown method. I have helped numerous people conquer their fear of math.

English

During my first teaching job, I taught 10th grade English for 1 year. I also worked as a writing tutor during my university studies and have been successfully helping students in English (including some ESL) for 10+ years.

French

I have taught French the high school level for 6 1/2 years, most recently at a local private Catholic school (2016-17). To maintain my fluency and accent, I travel to France as often as possible--have spent 4 summers there plus other long trips, lived and worked there, and did graduate level course work towards a masters there. I've helped ages 7 to adult and levels 0 to university with French, as well as prepare and advise travelers to France/French speaking countries.

Geometry

Before I knew I was going to teach French, I was originally going to become a math teacher. I have had numerous students tell me that I should teach math (at their schools), as they really enjoy my step-by-step, simple breakdown method. I have helped numerous people conquer their fear of math, including geometry.

Prealgebra

Before I knew I was going to teach French, I was originally going to become a math teacher. I have had numerous students tell me that I should teach math (at their schools), as they really enjoy my step-by-step, simple breakdown method. I have helped numerous people conquer their fear of math.
