Who am I you might ask yourselves after reading this simple descriptive note. Well I am a daughter, a mother, a new grandmother, a sister and an auntie to most. I have been mentoring, tutoring, sponsoring, volunteering, helping and teaching many students in different arenas since I was a young grammar school student myself. Now I am embarking on a whole new career outside of the medical field where I worked for several years. I've been endeavoring to find work that I could do that I would naturally enjoy, and that would benefit everyone involved...in other words I want to be independently self-employed. I have helped several young children as well as young adults in all aspects of learning by simply sharing with them my personal and professional skills, my creative abilities and my knowledge in different areas that I have mastered either by: parental guidance, education, employment or life experience. I care, therefore I want to see others, especially our children do well. I believe in being respectful and responsible and I can be taken at my word. If I say I can do something then I will show you that I can. I am trusting, personable and fair minded...but I am not at all in any way going to allow disrespect to go unchecked and I expect a student to do his/her best. I am also a licensed published poet with one of my books in The Calumet City Library and it humbles me to have my poetry in the midst and on the shelf with other great well known Poets. I am proficient in several subjects and I have developed some creative ways of teaching/tutoring. I have worked with elementary students in the 21st Century after school program as a volunteer teacher's assistant. I also have been requested by administrators, teachers and students to come and speak in classroom settings and other school venues in order to share my poetry and authorship. I am available to help and am looking forward to it as well. With great sincerity, Ms. Tomi GX

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
