I have taught to the common core state standards for many years and love teaching math with a hands-on approach. In order for students to fully grasp a concept, they must have a strong number sense. Building number sense, using manipulatives and breaking apart numbers in many ways makes my math instruction unique and effective.
My research and experience has concluded that strength in vocabulary equals strength as a reader. I use different techniques to build vocabulary as well as using real texts to teach different reading skills. Students who struggle with reading can be reluctant but I have a track record for getting students of all levels to love reading.
I have done extensive research on the CCSS and have taught to the standards for a number of years. While some teachers reluctantly teach standards, I teach students. Through this, the standards are met.
I have six years of teaching experience and have, year after year, earned excellent ratings on my formal evaluations. I take my passion and bring it to me students.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
