I have a passion for learning and love to pass that on to children! I have an Associates Degree in Education, a Bachelor's in Business Administration and am pursuing my MBA currently at Olivet Nazarene University. I have played classical piano for 30 years and have taught for more than 10. I have been a tutor at elementary schools, for home schooled children, and at Ivy Tech Community College.
I have 2 years experience in substitute teaching in Kankakee County, Illinois and have more than a year experience in teaching both chess and engineering at public and private schools throughout the Chicago metro area.
I have tutored Prealgebra at Ivy Tech College (Valparaiso, IN) for one year and also took part in tutoring sessions throughout the Chicago metro area for ACT prep.
I have more than 5 years of tutoring experience for reading both with young beginners as well as those learning English as a second language.

Discounts for regularly scheduled tutoring sessions lasting at least one session/week for 2 months or more.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I currently have a BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration) from Olivet Nazarene University, I graduated with a 3.2 GPA. I am currently enrolled at Olivet in an MBA program with a major in Health Care Administration. My projected graduation date is 10/2017 and I currently have a 3.89 GPA. Through my education alone, I am well versed in subjects such as economics, accounting, ethics, and government rules/regulations. I also have experience in writing and submitting grant proposals and creating business plans.
In the past, I have also generated marketing campaigns for a local museum, served on three different charity boards and have created budgets in excess of 1 million dollars.
I have been actively using, and required to use, Microsoft Word for more than 15 years. I also very skilled in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. I have found that the knowledge that comes with being skilled in these applications is powerful and can empower anyone to feel more confident in their work, even if it's just for personal use. In my opinion, all young students should learn to master these applications as soon as they are ready to understand them, in order to be ahead of the curve in the classroom setting.

I have had several years of mathematics education and have always exceeded. I have taught as a math tutor, mainly algebra and prealgebra, at Ivy Tech College in Valparaiso, IN as well as prepping students for the math portions on the ACT.
I enjoy math and the logic that is involved in solving what I like to look at as puzzles. I currently instruct students throughout the Chicago Metro area in engineering, where we use algebra in order to work off of graphs.
I spend much of my day reading, for pleasure as well as for furthering my education and insight into my community and world-wide culture. Reading is a fundamental skill that empowers those individuals that excel and enjoy it. From research, to literature, to just looking through the comics, reading is a part of our every day lives.
I strive to enhance the reading skills of individuals, knowing the importance in life that a strong ability of reading will be able to provide that individual through their schooling and the rest of their life.
