Benedictine University (Mathematics)
I am entering into my senior year of college in the fall with a mathematics major. I have a 4.0 major GPA so you could say I'm good at math. I have a little sister currently in her senior year of high school and I help her with her math homework on a regular basis and love doing so. I am a grader for the math department and also tutor friends on the side when they need help. I work well with people as I come from a large family, I have worked at a local restaurant with a team of about forty people for the past three years, and volunteer to teach children at a local church.
I love sharing my understanding of math with everyone else. I love the challenge of coming up with new ways of explaining things when the first way didn't work with the individual I am trying to tutor, and I don't stop until I am convinced that they understand the concept. Teaching as well as learning is for me and my students, as I create an easygoing environment that is both relaxed (so that the student doesn't feel nervous) and very productive (so they leave knowing much more than they did before and feeling confident in their knowledge).
I have experience tutoring as well as grading for math classes. I have been through all these math classes and done extremely well in them. I am good at passing on what I know to others.
If you are willing to learn, I am eager to teach. If you are struggling in math you are not alone. Math is a difficult subject for many, let me help you understand it better. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have completed Differential Equations in College last semester. I received an A in the course, scoring over 100% in a majority of the tests. I took very good notes for this course which I still have if I need to look over anything. I helped tutor my classmates out in this subject while going through it.
I took this course in college. I received an A in it. Since this course I have taken several courses that require extensive proofs to be written so I have a better understanding of proofs. Since this course I have taken two probability and statistics courses so I would be able to help out with the probability mentioned in discrete math as well.
