Michigan State University (Finance)
I grew up in Bloomingdale and graduated from Lake Park High School as the #2 student with 5.5 out of 5.0 GPA. I took many honors and AP classes, and had top scores on the ACT, SAT tests, and AP Exams- recognized 31 college credits from AP exams. I earned a full academic scholarship to Michigan State University and graduated with top honors (3.98 out of 4.0 GPA) with Finance degree and International Business in 2007. I tutored accounting, economics, math, and finance while at MSU and have a passion for teaching others.
I have worked for over 10 years in the investment & corporate banking/ portfolio management industry, and recently switched to part-time employment as I have a young toddler at home. This has allowed me to take on more students to tutor and I look forward to sharing with you what I have learned to help you love academics and to succeed.
Math was an easy subject for me to pick up in school and I have learned many shortcuts and tips to help you understand the basics of algebra and beyond. I love reading, writing, and everything connected with English and grammar. Together, I will help you develop the basics so you will succeed on your papers and national exams. I easily connect with children and adults of all ages. I am patient, understanding, and have a solid grasp of the elementary school through University level subjects.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Because I am a first generation Chinese American born in IL, my parents saw how important it was to make sure I grew up knowing how to speak and write in Chinese. I am fully fluent in Mandarin (official language of China) and have visited China about 8 times now. My most recent trip to China was in 2012. In 2009 and 2010, I was invited to represent the United States at China's International Camps specializing in folk dance and kung fu. I am also the Public Relations Director and a performer with Yellow River Performing Arts Group, a non-profit group dedicated to bringing cultural awareness of China's rich culture through music and dance.
