In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been teaching students with disabilities for 3 years. In the three years, many of my students were diagnosed with ADHD. I continue to take seminars and classes to help me teach them using proven methods and management.
I teach students who have been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and other disabilities, on and off the spectrum. I also take classes, and search for curriculum in these subjects. Learning disabilities can be challenging, but I enjoy a challenge.

Music has always been a large part of my education. I played an instrument in both grade school and high school, and took Chorus, Music Appreciation, and Music History classes. In college, I took Music History and also joined chorus whenever I had a free moment. I have experience tutoring and teaching music skills.
I have been teaching and tutoring students in Phonics since high school. Without these basic skills, beginners struggle to learn the basic functions of reading. Most of the students I have tutored had dyslexia or other learning disabilities that made learning to read problematic. As a 7th grader, I tutored students both in 7th grade, and below who were struggling with basic Phonics. Helping others learn to read has been a lifelong goal of mine.
Praxis I and II are the tests used in many states for future teachers. I have taken the Praxis I test, and also the Praxis II for English Language Arts. Although the tests are complicated, preparation assists students the most in passing them. I use approved guides to prepare students and graduates for these tests.
I have taken 4 years at the high school level, and also continue to take classes at the college level to keep me proficient in the language. I take the time to study the culture every chance I get, just to keep up with changes.
