I pursued medicinal chemistry because I wanted to be of service to society by developing new medications. After completing a doctorate in organic chemistry/natural product synthesis I performed new drug discovery research for several years. The daily routine included small molecule synthesis, purification, and characterization, followed by processing the molecules through numerous biochemical assays.
It was challenging work but the very slow nature of the process and high level of experimental failures began to fatigue my drive. I decided to share my passion for organic chemistry and science by teaching college chemistry. I have been teaching for the past five years. I have a broad knowledge of math and science including chemistry, biology, math and engineering. I strive to explain complex topics in everyday terms. I enjoy helping others acheive their academic goals and I hope I can do so for you.
My scientific acheivements include:
American Chemical Society Analytical Chemistry Award
Led new drug discovery projects from hit-to-lead through clinical trial filings with FDA
Optimized a fully-synthetic route to morphine derivatives (oxycodone, hydrocodone, etc.) in cGMP facility
Expert skills in small molecule synthesis, characterization and analysis

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
