“**Very knowledgeable and accommodating Math Tutor!!**”

I've got many years of tutoring and teaching experience under my belt. I was a double major in mathematics and computer science, with a PhD in Applied Mathematics currently in progress through the University

Steven stepped in at the last minute to help us through finals in Algebra 2 Honors. Steven was very accommodating, and professional. He was able to quickly determine the weak areas in my Son's understanding and focused on them. It is clear that Steven has a thorough grasp of the subject matter that allowed him to quickly get down to the heart of the matter, and did not waste any of our time or money.

Thanks to Steven we were able to a good grade on the final!!

We worked on percentages, rates, and formulas for calculating interest. Steven is committed to seeing that I understand the material. He knows his stuff and does not make me feel stupid. I can certainly say some things are making sense because of Steven's tutoring.

Steven was very methodical. He made sure my son understood the foundation techniques and patterns needed to succed in algebra. His time management and teaching methods were superb.

Steven was very knowledgeable on the criteria and remained professional. He summarized the situation and provided the tools needed for my daughter to apply the fundamentals and complete her Algebra class with a passing grade.

Steven is tutoring my daughter in honors physics. He has done a fantastic job of relating the real life Applications of physics to help her grasp concepts.

Right to the point. Covered everything possible within the allotted time. Very knowledgeable when it comes to statistics. Would definitely schedule more sessions with him.

Steven took the time to ask questions before we got started to see where stood with my math skills.

As a 25 year old needing to take a test on material I hadn't see in years, I was hesitant to get a tutor. I figured I was too old. I was wrong. Steven worked with me at my own pace, making sure not to go to fast and always asking if I was following what he was dishing out to me. In just two lessons I was more confident in my math skills. I would certainly recommend Steven to anyone looking for a math tutor!!

Patient, easy to understand, and very knowledgeable. Steven has the ability to show you how to approach a problem and then logically work through it step by step. He also has several different ways to work a problem giving you a choice to select the method you feel most comfortable with. Now that's what I call a great tutor. Thank you Steven.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I'm currently employed as a full time percussionist by the Air Force Band of Mid-America at Scott AFB, IL. I've served 10 years as a professional musician in this capacity, having won the job back in 2005 via competitive audition. I served as a Guest Artist in Residence and Lecturer of Music at the University of Nebraska Lincoln in the 2010-2011 academic year. I also toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra during 2005. Prior to that time, I studied for four years with noted drummer and educator Steve Fidyk while pursuing Jazz Studies at the University of MD college park. I teach 3-4 drum students a week. I teach technique using the natural body movement concepts of Joe Morello, and build coordination using exercises and concepts from the lexicon of Alan Dawson and Gary Chester, author of "The New Breed."

My background in Math and Comp Sci encompasses quite a bit of logic; including discrete math at the undergraduate level (University of MD CMSC250) and Mathematical Logic at the graduate level (University of MD MATH712 + 713).

These courses covered basic boolean logic, including connectives, truth tables, and equivalences; predicate logic; completeness and incompleteness among other core topics.

Both of my degrees depending heavily on proofs, including basic techniques such as induction, proof by contradiction, etc; these concepts were used extensively in my graduate abstract algebra, algorithms, and approximation algorithms courses. (MATH601-602; CMSC451, 651, and 858).
