I have six years of experience teaching physics and astronomy, and I enjoy helping people to understand difficult or abstract concepts. I have a Ph.D. in Astrophysics, and I now work for the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory outside of Chicago in particle physics and scientific computing.
As an experimental physicist, I have extensive use and knowledge of computer programming and software development. I'm currently the release manager for the g-2 experiment at Fermilab, and use extensive programming to analyze experimental data.
I have taught at the high school and college levels. During my undergraduate degree I worked as an astronomy laboratory instructor, and in my senior year I began tutoring physics in both one-on-one and group settings. I also served as a teaching assistant for 3 years of my graduate study at Ohio State, where I conducted the laboratory and recitation sections of freshman physics courses, and I won the Hazel Brown Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award in 2009.
In 2015 I finished my Ph.D., which focused on Ultra-High Energy Cosmic Rays. These are extremely energetic subatomic particles from mysterious origins outside the Milky Way Galaxy. I now work as a particle physicist on the 'Muon g-2' experiment at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). This experiment studies the fundamental properties of subatomic particles called muons, and how they interact with the "quantum sea" that we think of as empty space.
My background provides a flexible approach to the material that is critically important for teaching a subject as complex as physics, and my extensive work beyond introductory physics allows me to provide insight into the deeper and more general problem-solving approaches which underlie the basic strategies taught by introductory textbooks. I have learned from experience that those times when we feel least able to comprehend something are often the times when we are learning the most rapidly.

He covered everything that I asked him to go over with me in great detail and showed great knowledge and was able to explain it in a way I could understand it. He was very flexible with the hours and the Location.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My undergraduate courses included senior-level ODE and PDE classes from the math department and two similar senior-level math methods courses from the physics department. We also encounter many partial differential equations in graduate-level physics courses. These courses collectively covered linear and nonlinear equations (with real and complex variables in various coordinate systems) and their solution via basic and advanced techniques such as separation of variables, Laplace transformations, orthonormal basis functions, and Green's functions. I also encounter modeling applications such as cascade equations in my work.
