Hi! I'm Lindsay. I am a Special Education Teacher, specializing in the content areas of Reading and Mathematics. I currently teach both subject areas at a local middle school, in addition to some specialized math and reading intervention programs. In addition, I have experience teaching Wilson Reading (Direct Instruction Reading Program), and Scholastic Reading Programs (Read 180, System 44), among others. I have worked with many students of all ages on subjects such as math, writing, social studies and reading. I currently tutor a 7th grade student who has Dyslexia and ADHD, using the Wilson Reading Program, as well as Comprehension Skills. Last Summer, I tutored a 3rd grader in Math. On a daily basis, I teach a diverse range of students, of all varying levels. It's one of my favorite things about my job! I LOVE learning new things every day. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my Bachelors Degree from Aurora University in Special Education. I have 3 years of teaching experience in various classroom settings. I also have 6 years of experience tutoring those with various disabilities. I have trained, implemented and taught various reading programs.
