Northern Illinois University (History)
Hello! My name is Joanna. I am a full-time ELA tutor at a local high school, but my Bachelor's degree is in history. I love helping children realize that history is not the boring subject that they think it is, but filled with intrigue, drama, romance, scandal, and can be more exciting than a big Hollywood action film. My speciality is in Antebellum South, Civil War, Post-Civil War, as well as civil rights. I also have a minor in political science and can help with government courses as well. I can help high schoolers be able to write those argumentative or rhetorical essays, but I also can help that child find the research needed for that big history fair project!
I am a mother to four teens, so I do understand that getting them to study and work can be difficult sometimes. Being able to have my child or any child gain that spark in their eyes when they realize they either understand or are excited about the assignment they are working on is the best reward I can get!
I use proper grammar. I can teach spelling, as well as handwriting.
I specialize in American History, Government and also have a minor in political science. I engage in discussing how foreign western governments work in comparison to the United States.
I am available nights after 5pm on weekdays and can schedule special sessions for the weekend! Please do not hesitate to contact me with base questions you may have. Hello! My name is Joanna.
