Hi all. I teach English, Speech, and Acting. If you're looking for someone who is a strict taskmaster, teaches through fear, and uses a ruler to rap the hands of your child when they get something wrong, read no further. Alas, I am not that person. I believe in instilling the joy of learning (yes, tell your child, it can actually be fun!) and finding the connection with your children that will make English and English-related subjects meaningful and enjoyable.I have taught both formally and informally, in the classroom and in business settings, for over 35 years. Most recently, I taught English and speech classes at a High School for the 2014/2015 school year.
In addition to a Masters of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree, I come with a huge background in practical English, too! I am a professional playwright and actor, for the past three decades or so, having over thirty published plays, and have performed in over 70 plays. Being a playwright means that I can help your son or daughter not only learn to write effective essays, but also to play and be creative with words if their class calls for it. My acting background means that not only am I a little crazy (after, all NO ONE can make a living acting...okay, maybe Tom Cruise), but I also can help your child communicate verbally in speech classes. To go one final step, I absolutely would love to work with your aspiring actor on perfecting his/her monologue or simply learning the basics of acting. Hi all. I teach English, Speech, and Acting. This past year, my daughter was struggling with her Honors English 1 class for freshman year. She was struggling with her essays and multiple choice tests. However, after getting some help from Robert, she has improved tremendously. Now, she does not struggle as much as she used to in the class, and is happy with her tutoring sessions.
Robert showed me life long lessons in the subject of English that are very helpful and will help me along the way to writing college essays and so on, great tutor.
Mr. Robert F. started to tutor my son, who hates reading, two weeks. My son seems loving to read with him. I wish in a long term, my son would develop better reading skills and becomes more interested in reading especially in reading fiction books. Thank you Mr. Robert F.!
Mr. Robert helped my son with great patience and good skills. They were focusing on ACT practice and my son's research essay. Its the first time tutoring, so I won't say too much at this moment. I hope he could help my son improve his grade and gain more confidence and interest in reading and writing.
He has been great with my son who started off fighting me on even having a tutor. He has been patiently working with him to help him with English assignments and ACT prep, trying different methods until he finds one that will work to help him be the most successful. My son enjoys learning from him with a subject that he normally doesn't find easy. I would strongly recommend Rob

He's very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He's helping my son organize his thoughts so he can get words down on paper, even though he feels overwhelmed with the task at hand. Very prompted, reliable and make every effort to be available to your schedule. Pleasant to be around and eager to help. My son is learning he can write when he has always thought he wasn't capable when it came to big, complicated research project/essays.
