Bio

Aloha! I recently moved to Chicagoland from Hawaii, by way of southwest Colorado! I just graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with a Bachelors in computer science with a minor in mathematics, and I have tutored over 20 students individually, as well as worked in math labs. The bulk of my tutoring experience is with algebra and pre-calculus/trigonometry, but I am able to work with a variety math and computer classes. I am happy to provide references if desired. I so look forward to working...

Religion

I grew up as a preacher's kid, so religious studies was a regular part of our life. I then later attended a Christian university, where Bible studies was one of the three concentration areas of my first Bachelor's degree. Then I joined the military, where I was trained for a year and a half as an Arabic linguist. As a part of our curriculum, we also studied Islam. I am much less educated on other world religions, but Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are all areas where I would be comfortable helping someone.

I also studied the Iraqi dialect of Arabic and maintained a 2+/2+ (Advanced Plus).

Helpful and Knowledgeable

Allison was a very knowledgeable Java tutor and explained the material in a way that made it easier for me to understand. I was able to quickly set up a tutoring session with her. I felt confident in her skills and I am much more comfortable with Java.

Disappionted

Allison was a great tutor, but she just stopped contact with me for no reason. I had 3 weeks of class left, and I tried to get in touch with her with tutoring and she never responded to my text or phone call. I was disappointed because she stop tutoring at the last leg of my class. I had to find another tutor to help me. I don't know if I said anything or did anything to make her mad, but she completed cut me off. I wish I had known what happen but she is a great tutor when she is there.

Awesome Tutor & Very Patient

Allison is a very nice tutor. She is very understanding and patient. She cares about if you understand the subject or not. She tutored me in Computer Science and gave a suggestion of sending some practice work to help me understand the concepts better. Definitely would recommend her to people.

Great tutor and excellent teacher!

When I first began tutoring with Allison, I had explained to her that my weakness was in math and that it had been a number of years since my last bit of formal schooling. This did not phase her and she quickly gathered materials that pertained not only to my subject but my specific school course and professor. My professor's teaching method was outdated and unable to comprehend. Allison was able to teach me the lessons and even help me review for the exams. I was not only able to pass but be one of three students who did for that entire semester course. She is an excellent tutor and will surely put you on the right path to completing your degree plan.
