My name is Kamil. I absolutely love to teach Mandarin! I read, write, and speak conversational Mandarin Chinese. I am what one would call a functioning speaker. I have been studying Mandarin for 20 years. I was introduced to the Chinese Language in High School. I studied 2 years in High School and 2 years in College.
My Chinese professor from College (who is from Xian China) was so impressed, she told me that my Chinese was excellent! and that I should seriously consider teaching. I took her advice, and discovered that I have a knack for it.
I make learning Mandarin fun and interesting. I work to build my students confidence; this way, they don't feel intimidated or overwhelmed. My goal is to help my students to improve their grades, and to speak, read, and write Mandarin with ease.
I can teach anyone at any age. I've taught Mandarin in Preschools, Middle-Schools, to High School students and adults.
Today, I am a student at DePaul University working on my Chinese Language Degree and teaching certification.
So, if you are looking for a tutor who takes a passionate, fun, and creative approach to teaching Mandarin, I'm a great choice! Nimen Hao!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took 4 years of Mandarin in High School and 2 years of Chinese in College and am currently a student at DePaul University pursuing my degree in Chinese Language Studies. In addition, I've been studying and speaking Mandarin on my own for 20 years as a hobby.
I have experience in tutoring and instruction. I began instructing Mandarin in an after-school program in 2012. The children were from kindergarten to 8th grade. Parents and teachers also attended my classes for 1 school year. Then this school referred me to a local preschool.
The preschool hired me to instruct preschool children to read, write and speak both English and Mandarin for 1 school year, and it was a hit success!
Soon afterwards, by word of mouth, I was hired by an organization to work in Chinatown in Chicago and tutor kids from China in English. I worked there for 6 months.
Next, I tutored an honor student at Lindbloom High School, helping him to improve his grade in Mandarin from an F to a C in just a 2 months. This was important because he needed to pass this class in order to graduate from High School.
I teach using many methodologies, such as songs on CD and DVD, games, videos, flash cards, web-sites that are popular for study, dancing, group games and participation. I use competitive games and I print-out worksheets for practice at home. I also go on field trips to restaurants and stores in Chinatown so that students can build their speaking skills and confidence in utilizing the language.
