Greetings! I have had the pleasure of being a professional teacher for over 10 years. Currently, I am an elementary bilingual and ESL teacher. I am confident in all elementary content instruction as well as middle school English Language Arts and Japanese language for all levels.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I hold a current Illinois elementary teaching license with an endorsement in middle school ELA. I received have passed the ILTS elementary and middle school content exam, and I received a high score of 47 on the EdTPA for Middle Childhood English Language Arts. Plus, I have 10 years of ESL and ELA classroom experience.
I have 10 years of ESL classroom experience at a private school in Arlington Heights. During that time, I taught group ESL lessons for adults for 5 years. I have also taught private adult ESL lessons with a high rate of success.

I have ten years of ESL and English Language Arts classroom experience with pre-K, kindergarten, primary, and intermediate grades during which I have gotten positive results working with curricula from the SRA Phonics series by McGraw-Hill, the Reading Street series by Pearson, the Sadlier Phonics series, Jolly Phoncics, and online resources like Reading A-Z and Starfall. Having worked primarily with new readers, I am confident in explaining the bio-mechanics and differences associated with phonemes, morphemes, bends, digraphs, short vowels, long vowels, consonants, etc. I received a high passing score of 277 out of 300 on the Illinois ILTS Elementary and Middle Grades Content Exam with a score of 280 in Literacy and Language.
I have worked with ESL students and readers of various levels of the years. I am confident in both shared reading and guided reading settings.
