There is no greater joy for a teacher than seeing her students succeed in their field of interest. I have worked with students between the ages of 8 and 60. Getting to know so many different learning personalities and approaches has shaped me as a teacher as well.
I absolutely love tutoring because not only does the student get an extra concentration on their subject of choice but I know I have the ability to solidify and questions or gaps that may exist regarding a specific area of English or Spanish.
My favorite challenge is when multiple students prefer to be taught in a couple different approaches. This challenges myself because my mind is always on the go of how I can present the methodology to my student and keep them engaged at the same time. To me, learning has always been exciting and I promised myself that my students would always leave on a positive note.
My tutoring/teaching experience consists of working as an ESL instructor for one year in Wheeling, IL. I also worked for 1 year at Texas Wesleyan University in the ESL department. While part time tutoring on the side for multiple ages.
I am an outstanding English tutor. I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in English. I am specializing in Writing/Editing and composing Press Releases in a Media and Professional Writing Course. I also have experience with a Writing of Poetry Intro to Film/Writing Course; Writing of Pop Culture and Literature (Minority Writers in Science Fiction) Cultural and Literary studies in Spain and Latin America course Focus on writing/editing in media, rhetoric, and cultural studies Ability to recognize and correct editorial stylistic inconsistencies.
Plus, I have experience with Analysis and writing on literary criticism/literature (1660’s-1900’s, and present); and Analysis of Spanish literature/texts, writing critical responses in Spanish Excellent American English language skills: spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage
I have taught English as a second language at The Language Company located on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University. I worked with students from level 1 all the way until College Prep. I specifically tutored students who were taking their English placement tests in order to be able to transfer to an American University.
I have been studying and speaking Spanish for the past 12 years. I started way back in 7th grade and never took a break since then. I received my minor in Spanish. I read, write and speak in Spanish. Many of the students that I worked with back in Texas were from South America and Spain.
I encourage you to take on this adventure with me as your tutor because I can promise you an innovative learning experience. It is so rewarding to see that light bulb go on for my student knowing that it was me who helped them advance to the next level with excitement and comfort. Learning is a beautiful experience which never stops, so why not make it memorable. No matter the subject, you will never be bored with me. We all have goals and the process of learning should be memorable and full of new learning techniques. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have my bachelors in English and my Masters degree in education and training. Last year when I worked at The Language Company (on the campus of Texas Wesleyan University). I prepared 4 student for their TOEFL exams. My students were from South America.
