I am a former teacher who currently works in the educational assessment field. I have taught for over 12 years ranging from grades Pre-K-1st. My main focus for tutoring is Pre-k-3rd grade. I have tutored for over 15 years, and have had great success in creating a nurturing environment where students can succeed. I have seen great results from my tutoring, and the students have become more confident and successful learners in school.
I have a Master's degree from National Louis in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught the Everyday Math Curriculum, when it comes to Math, I strongly believe in the hands on learning approach.
When it comes to writing, I have a fun and interesting way to get the children excited about writing. I use squiggle books. Please feel free to contact me so I can explain more about what they are. I have a lot of experience teaching reading, since I have taught Kind. and 1st for over seven years. Also, in my current job, I have gained a lot of knowledge about phonics, phonemic awareness, scope and sequence, fluency, comprehension, and pre-reading skills. I have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the Common Core Standards and the Fountas and Pinnell levels. I have had great success with increasing fluency and comprehension in students I have tutored.
An elementary tutor needs to be patient, innovative, and knowledgeable. The tutor needs to come up with many different activities to meet students with various capabilities and learning styles. It is also important to be knowledgeable about how and what the student needs to know, to be prepared for the grade ahead.
I am very knowledgeable about phonics, phonemic Awareness, and many other language skills that the students should know.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I received my bachelors degree in early childhood education pre-k to 3rd grade. My masters is in curriculum and instruction.
