Part of my pursuit for a Master's degree in Written Communication was the knowledge that I would be qualified to teach English Composition when I graduated. During my Master's program, I also had the unique opportunity to participate in an internship program at The College of Lake County where I co-taught a children's literature class. I encouraged students to develop written as well as oral presentations through writing prompts. These prompts not only helped the students develop their writing skills, but oral presentation skills that they will be able to utilize in other classes and throughout their lives.
Tutoring allows me to work one on one with students to inspire, educate and lead at their own pace in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. Having worked as a former Dental Hygienist, I customized care to individual patients' needs, I will be able to apply that knowledge to the students I work with since they will likewise have individual needs. I also studied at 'Second City Chicago', which gave me invaluable improvisation skills that allow me to bring a unique dynamic to tutoring assignments and activities. My diverse background gives me the opportunity to pull from different sources to keep my lessons fresh and exciting.
Throughout my college career and personal life, I have written numerous essays, articles, short stories, and research papers. I enjoy writing for children and young adults and have had two of my short stories published in National Louis University's juried journal. I specialize in writing, reading and grammar as well as the development of oral presentation skills. I am also able to help students develop resumes and cover letters for potential employees and internship programs.

My Master's degree in Written Communication, qualifies me to teach English Composition at the college level as well as all age groups. While in graduate school, I not only had to edit my own papers but those of my peers. I have worked one on one with students to develop their Language Arts skills in a program called Content Mastery.
