About Anthony

I graduated from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana with a 3.42 GPA in nuclear engineering. While still in college I had the opportunity to tutor quite a few people in Chemistry, Physics, Math, and Engineering Classes. While these subjects are my main strengths I am also available in other subjects such as History, English, and Biology.

My tutoring style for math based subjects usually entails learning through examples or sample problems. Generally, I try to start basic and work up to more complicated sample problems. My dedication to the student and subject matter has allowed my students to achieve the grades they not only want, but deserve.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

AutoCAD

I have used the AutoCAD and its family of programs (Inventor, VIZ Render, etc.) for all four years of college and three years in high school. I have done many projects with it including 3D printing and the architectural design of a nuclear reactor.

Linear Algebra

I have taken linear algebra in college and helped tutor some of my friends in the subject. I later used linear algebra concepts to set up complex differential equations in a matrix theory format for a multitude of school projects.

MATLAB

I have used this programming format extensively in college, from computing courses to coding real world applications. My most recent project was coding a simulator for neutron diffusion in a nuclear reactor

Study Skills

As a Tutor for Wyzant, an ACT coach, and a teacher for another company I have been instilling study skills into my students since I began. I have been instructing my students since day one to set up a study schedule, prioritize what needs to be done first, and find a non distracting environment to study in. Additionally, I have been coaching ACT students in how to study and prepare more effectively for the test. Finally, I have been teaching for almost 2 years now in a variety of different subjects (with top ratings) and know exactly how to help students achieve better study habits.

Outstanding — We appreciate that Anthony will always have time to work with our daughter, even on short notice. He has been an incredible resource. He is calm, patient and knows how to review the material beautifully. Thanks Anthony! ...
