Kerry is a wonderful tutor! She makes you feel comfortable and is always very positive and encouraging. Kerry is very knowledgeable and flexible when it comes to meeting her students. She is always willing to work around my schedule and help in anyway possible. I was very nervous when I started tutoring and instantly Kerry made me feel comfortable and confident! I would highly recommend Kerry to anyone who is looking for a great and knowledgeable tutor!
Kerry came to our home and helped our Sophomore at Geneva high school prepare for his final exam. She was congenial, knowledgeable and thorough. Our son was engaged, felt comfortable asking questions and appeared more confident after the session.
I very much enjoyed working with Kerry in practicing my conversational Spanish skills and reviewing key grammar points. She's reliable and encouraging; she takes notes to provide me with study points, uses good supplemental materials, but doesn't rely on or require textbook drills. Instead, Kerry is able to point me to particular readings and exercises for the practice related to my abilities and challenges. She's also very personable and easy to talk with. I also like that she's a current teacher of Spanish at the college level and has traveled to and lived in Spanish-speaking countries, so she also understands the context and different dialects of Spanish. So, she brings an easy-going expertise to her tutoring.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
