Hello!

My name is Kelsie, and I am here to help you succeed! I have extensive training working with people from all backgrounds of life. I am actively involved in scientific research including publishing and manuscript reviews, clinical work, and curriculum development at the university level. I earned my B.S./B.A. in 2009, M.S. in 2012, and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology in 2015.

I am committed to meeting every student at their own level of understanding. My goal is to help you build your foundation of knowledge in the subject(s) of your choice. I am well prepared to walk you through your subject at a pace comfortable to you. Learning is much more than memorizing facts - it is about developing critical thinking skills, understanding concepts, and developing the strategies that will be useful throughout your life.

I have experience working with children, teens, young adults, college students, individuals with developmental disabilities, and groups. I am a person who is flexible and easy to work with, but I am also effective at gently pushing people to achieve their goals.

I conduct psychoeducational ADHD evaluations and have received extensive supervision with and coursework about neurodevelopmental disabilities. Last summer, I supervised counselors at a Summer Treatment Program for ADHD.

I currently work with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder on a weekly basis in a clinical setting (both assessment and treatment planning). In addition, I often teach parents, teachers, and other caregivers to understand the function of behaviors (e.g., limited communication) and how to respond effectively.

I have training and experience in assessment of reading disorders including dyslexia, and an understanding of different types of dyslexia (e.g., surface, deep) through my clinical internship and postdoctoral fellowship. My tutor skills include the use an evidence-based curriculum that focuses on decoding words, phonics, word attack skills, and comprehension. I use the Riggs and Orton-Gillingham approaches to reading intervention. I have helped parents understand their child's IEPs for dyslexia and created tutoring sessions to match their needs.
