About Kyle

I am a recent graduate from Brigham Young University – Idaho with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a professional option in statistics. While attending university I have, for the past 3 years, had the opportunity to tutor fellow students and have been a teacher’s assistant. In addition I have been the chief content editor for the university political science journal—Opus Politicum. These different positions have allowed me to interact, work with, and teach students in different capacities and varying ways dependent on the needs and the goals of the students. In this process I have come to love helping students come to understand and appreciate things that they had formally believed were beyond their capacity.

I have a professional option in statistics and empirical methods from Brigham Young University - Idaho. In pursuing this field I have become very comfortable with frequent statistical tests from z and t tests, to advanced multilevel and general linear modeling. In addition, I have experience in Bayesian techniques and am passionate about this exiting field of statistics. Of course, real life statistical analysis has just as much to do with experimental design, data manipulation/cleaning, and creating intuitive and powerful visuals. These are skills that I have gathered in real world experience as freelance data scientist.

My preferred tool for statistical analysis is the Statistical programming language R. R is the fastest growing statistical program in the world and is entirely free and open source, meaning that it is easily accessible to anyone interested in learning statistics and that its capacity and versatility is expanding every day. It is the most robust and powerful tool on the market without having the hundreds of dollars that other programs such as SAS or SPSS require.

I have been coding In R for 3 years now and absolutely love the versatility and freedom that it allows in data manipulation, analysis, and visualization.

I have a bachelor’s degree in political science where I graduated with a major GPA of 3.88 and scored in the 98th percentile nationally in the Major field test for political science. In addition to classroom learning I have had the opportunity to be involved in local politics via the organization Students for Students, and at the international level as an intern in Belgium for an international advocacy group that partners with the European Union called “Human Rights Without Frontiers.”

Political Science and government are my passions. I love being able to sit one-on-one or in small groups with students that are grappling with the complexities of the political process on the local, state, national, and international levels. These endeavors are paths that I have enjoyed walking on my own, and paths that I look forward to walking down many more times with others.

I have experience teaching and tutoring students of all ages and of all interest levels, from teaching the American political system to 12 year olds in Ukraine to students in their 40s that have come back to get the education that they were not able to get earlier; from teaching individuals with a passion for the topic to those that simply want to pass a test. No matter the reason for learning, I firmly believe that learning can happen given the right environments and conditions. These are they types of environments that I strive to cultivate.

I am generally available between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm and can travel to student as well as provide online instruction. My base rate is $40.00 an hour, however I provided special packages for individuals who intend on scheduling more than 5 hours of lessons.

I look forward to helping you reach your academic goals both in political science and statistics.

Excellent Biostatistics Tutor!

I'm currently enrolled in a graduate program for biology and taking biostatistics--something that is very new to me. I met with two local tutors in Austin specializing in statistics and neither one could help me with working with R, RStudio, and RMarkdown, as they relate to biostatistics. Working with Kyle was a huge relief! He is an excellent tutor, and I found the online experience to be even be
