Brigham Young University Idaho (History)
I am deeply committed to my philosophy that education should be centered on student growth. I believe that children are the future and it is our responsibility to teach students the tools they will need to be successful in higher education as well as in their careers. All my life I have loved school. Creating study guides, games, and learning activities has always been a hobby of mine. I enjoy analyzing literature and film in my spare time. Facilitating students to draw deeper conclusions on any subject gives me deep satisfaction. Education is one of the most important works we can take part in.
I am a History Education major with a minor in art. I am currently a junior at Brigham Young University. The education program has given me experience with teaching. Last winter I spent 3 months teaching world history to 8th graders at Rigby Junior High. In addition to this experience, I also have been employed as a teacher's assistant at BYUI. Both of these opportunities taught me skills and tools to effective fun teaching.
I have always loved English and writing. Academically I have excelled in this field both in college and in high school. I consistently I am recognized for professional well thought out essays. I have acquired the skills necessary to tutor others on how to understand complex literature as well as write coherent essays.
History is my passion. I haven't always known this though. I began enjoying history my junior year in high school. Once I began college I truly fell in love. My passion for the subject is what fuels my drive to teach others. Explaining history as a story, rather than a chronological order of events, is paramount to helping students understand history. Nothing brings me more excitement than exploring new creative ways to teach history.
If you are struggling to understand some of the literature you are learning in school or if you have trouble memorizing all the different historical facts in your classes then please contact me. I love learning and am very patient. I enjoy teaching effective writing. If it is difficult for you to find the words to express an analysis or persuasive English assignment I am more than willing to teach you how to become a better writer. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
