About Daniel

I am currently an enrolled student at Brigham Young University-Idaho, studying to become a teacher. I am studying Social Studies Education composite, which is a major and a minor combined. This will qualify me to teach History, Government, Geography, and Economics at the high school level. I currently have a 4.0 GPA. The highest math class I have had was pre-calculus. I do not feel confident enough in pre-calculus to tutor in it, since it was the maximum level of mathematics I have had , and so I will tutor for Algebra 2 or lower. I had A's in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in high school.

I had A's in English and I even write proper English when texting. It often drives my friends crazy every time they see that I may text them a paragraph in proper English than a sentence in texting language. I took Advanced Placement European History in high school and had a 4, almost a 5, on the AP test for it. (The scale is 1-5 for AP tests). I took AP US History and had a 5 on the AP test. I also took AP US Government and AP Economics, with a 4 on both tests. For those who do not know about AP classes, I find that they are actually classes offered in high school that are more difficult than most college classes of the same subject. For example, I am currently taking a government class that seems to be all review for me of what I learned in my AP US Government class in high school, and, in fact, it doesn't go into as much detail. The reason I do not tutor science is that it's the only subject I have not had a lot of experience with and they were often classes I did not receive A's in for high school.

I will try to cater my teaching method according to each student I tutor. I understand that each person learns differently, and so I will likely ask the student how they learn easiest and teach them accordingly. For math, I can cater to be more visual, if that's what your child prefers, or I can use only numbers and logic.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have had up to pre-calculus in High school with some calculus in college. I have had A's in all of my math classes and am currently at a university studying to become a teacher, which my degree will qualify me to teach.

Algebra 2

I have had up to precalculus in high school with some calculus in college. I am currently studying at a university to earn a teaching degree. While math is not the subject I am studying to teach, I have had good grades in my math classes, including an A in Algebra 2 and an A in precalculus.

American History

I have had AP US History in High school with which I had an B in the class and a score of a 5 on the AP test, where a 5 is highest. My major qualifies me to teach US history in the high school level as well.

Elementary Math

I have had up to pre-calculus in High school. I have had A's in all of my math classes and am currently at a university studying to become a teacher, which my degree will qualify me to teach. Elementary math would be very easy since I have had much higher levels of math.

European History

I have had Advanced Placement European History in high school with which I had an A in the class and a score of a 4 on the AP test, where a 5 is highest. My major qualifies me to teach history in the high school level as well. I already have earned credit for European History on the college level because of the score I had on the AP test.

Geography

I am currently taking geography courses in which I am getting A's and B's in. My major, Social Studies Ed, will qualify me to teach this subject in the high school level.

Geometry

I took up to precalculus in high school. I have had good grades in all of my math classes and am currently at a university studying to become a teacher. In geometry, I had a grade of an A, and the current math class I have I am doing well in.

Government & Politics

I have had AP US government in High school with which I had an A in the class and a score of a 4 on the AP test, where a 5 is highest. My major qualifies me to teach this subject in the high school level as well.

Prealgebra

My qualifications for Algebra 1 were approved of. Since obviously pre-algebra is simpler than Algebra 1, where I have clear qualifications for, it should be obvious that I have qualifications for pre-algebra. I've had some calculus at a University, which is a math way beyond simple pre-algebra. In this class I did well and had a grade of an A.

Social Studies

I am currently a social studies ed composite major. This qualifies me to teach at a high school level for history, government, economics, and geography. I have tutored fellow students in high school in history subjects. I had Advanced Placement classes for European History, US History, Macro-economics, and Government. I had 4's and 5's on the AP tests for each of them.
