Hi, I'm Courtney! I come from a big family that is full of teachers and I have always had a passion for teaching. I have spent much of my life preparing and working towards becoming a teacher (some of that preparation being tutoring). Now that I have achieved that goal, I am constantly trying to improve and grow as a teacher and tutor for my students.

I volunteered in elementary classrooms from the time I was a freshman in high school until I got a classroom of my own after college. I also have been tutoring students in various settings for the past five years. I have tutored students in grades Kindergarten through 8th grade in many subjects (my strongest subjects being math and language arts). I have done private tutoring, tutoring through the company "Teach n' Tutor", and tutoring through my school. Currently, with schools closed, I am only working with my own students for a few hours each day and I am greatly missing my job and being able to spend my days teaching and working with students.

I have my multiple subject teaching credential, meaning that in college I was trained on teaching all subjects to elementary and middle school students. However, my emphasis was in mathematics and I took extra math classes to earn a supplemental teaching credential in basic mathematics. Additionally, I have spent the past 5 years teaching 7th grade math and tutoring 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in math, so I am very familiar with the middle school mathematics standards.

For some reason, I have always loved grammar and grammatical rules have always stuck with me pretty easily. Growing up, my parents would always have me proofread things for them to make sure their writing was grammatically correct. I took AP English classes in high school (and passed the AP tests), did well in my English classes in college, and kept a 4.0 GPA for my whole Master's program (where every assignment was either a written discussion post or a big paper). In the tutoring center at my school, grammar assignments are also one of my favorite th

My major in college was liberal studies, which is all about teaching elementary school students. I have my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, which primarily focuses on elementary school. I have volunteered in many elementary school classrooms, where I have worked with students individually and in small groups. Additionally, much of my tutoring experience has been with students in grades K-6, so I am familiar with teaching some of the elementary school standards.

Good teacher

My 9 yr old likes her and has asked for an extra hour with her each week. Courtney pushes her to excel but does so in a nice way, which does not make my daughter uncomfortable.

Helping guide student into fourth grade

Courtney is bringing new ideas to help our son as he is going into the fourth grade. Our son is always eager to tell us about his session when we get home. Glad we found a good tutor as our son is really excited about learning math.

My daughter loves working with Courtney. We are so happy to be working with her. She is professional and has well planned lessons. We are very lucky to have connected.

Knowledgeable and patient

Courtney sat with our twelve year old daughter who had trouble in 7th grade math. Courtney was able to determine what the issues were and came up with a game for the following week. She was patient throughout the session and very pleasant to speak with. We will definitely be using her again.
