Middlebury College, Middlebury VT (Physics)
I am currently ski racing professionally for the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation XC Gold Team. I graduated Middlebury College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics. I have taken many mathematics classes to fulfill the requirements for my major including Calculus 2, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Multivariable Calculus, and have learned many other mathematics in my math-intensive physics courses ranging from Astro-physics to Quantum mechanics.
I had some very hard times understanding complicated mathematics and physics throughout high school and college, and this has taught me patience. I completely understand when someone is so stuck they have no idea what to do, therefore I love helping students who are struggling in a patient way. My goal is to really help students understand math, because when you understand it, math becomes really fun and extraordinarily useful. I love tutoring, and I know that it can make a huge difference in an education.
I can tutor ACT Math, SAT Math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, Calculus 2, and Multivariable Calculus as well as ACT Science, Physical Science, and Physics.
I ran the 4x800m, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m all throughout high school in Vermont. I qualified for New England championships for 3 years. I continue to train full time now, and love all sports, but mostly endurance sports including distance track events.
If I could do one thing more in my education, it would be to ask for more help and get tutors. Tutors are the best help, because unlike teachers they offer direct one-on-one communication and aid. Also unlike teachers, tutors have more recently been through academic challenges and understand and remember clearly the frustration and patience that is needed for tutoring. Math and physics can be very hard for some people, and it takes hard work and extra help to understand the really hard concepts, but it is worth and and can make learning way more fun, instead of painful. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I graduated from Middlebury College with a BA in physics. I completely precalculus my junior year of high school, AP calculus my senior year of high school, calculus 2, linear algebra, and multivariable calculus in college.
