About Sarah

I have always been curious about the world around us. It was this curiosity (and a few very influential teachers) that inspired me to pursue a career in education teaching others about my passion. I love helping others to see their potential and to be successful in life. Though I have never tutored before, I have taught in public schools for 9 years and loved it.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Education and am currently pursuing my Master's in Geosciences for Teachers. I specialize in Earth Science, including Meteorology and Astronomy, as well as music. I have taken music theory, sight singing, and piano classes and worked with high school marching bands for 17 years. My goal is to help all students I tutor to feel successful by offering timely feedback, extra practice, and periodic assessments.

I have taught science at the middle and high school levels for 9 years and I am continuing my personal education by studying geosciences in my graduate program. I am confident that my undergraduate coursework, teaching experience, and current coursework will help students to be successful.

I have taught high school marching bands for 17 years and completed a good deal of music coursework at the community college and university levels. The education I received will enable me to better explain concepts and help the struggling musician to be successful.

I provide my tutoring services online due to being a stay-at-home mom. I have taught online courses before, so I am very comfortable with the virtual environment and will help students to be comfortable with it too.

I look forward to working with you and helping you to achieve your goals. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

General Music

General music includes all basic knowledge of music. I am a musician and have been since middle school. I have performed in various ensembles, including marching band, concert band, symphonic band, orchestra, jazz band, mariachi band, and several choirs. I took many courses in college including music theory, sight singing, piano, and music appreciation. I've used my education to work with high school marching bands for the past 17 years to improve the programs. I also taught elementary general music for 1 year.
