University of Houston (Spanish literature)
My love of teaching comes from a lifelong love of learning Foreign Languages and being a classroom for over 10 years. I studied Spanish Literature at the University of Houston and i am a native speaker of the language. I spent a summer in Salamanca, Spain and i am originally from the Dominican republic. I have tutored many students over the years in both individual and group settings.
I specialized in Spanish Literature and Italian in college. I have taught and tutored from beginning level of Spanish to College level of AP Spanish Culture. Whether we are working on grammar, vocabulary or culture, one of my goals each session is to keep students engaged, but not overwhelmed. I normally assign homework after each lesson.
I hold myself to the highest standards and i ask for feedback often. For that reason i never bill for a lesson that a student or parent is not completely satisfied with my tutoring.
I try to be flexible and i have a 24 hour cancellation policy. I also offer make up classes when needed.
I look forward to hearing from you and help you acquire the necessary tools to be successful in Spanish. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
