Randi has worked so well with our teenage son this year. They meet once weekly, and she is always patient and encouraging. Her extra support has made a huge difference for him in school. He looks forward to discussing his schoolwork with her. I recommend Randi as an excellent tutor who is approachable and flexible. Her help and expertise has benefited our whole family.
Randi met with my daughter once a week to get her homework organized, so that assignments got done and turned in. It worked! My daughter's grades went up!
My daughter was adverse to reading after the have-to reading she did in high school. She hadn't read a book for fun since the 8th grade. I contacted Randi at Wyzant to see if she could help spark some interest in my daughter and encourage her to pick up a book again and read for fun. My daughter was heading off to college and the importance of reading is vast. It's also a great stress reliever. Randi spoke to her about ways to plan for college and gave her ideas and strategies for studying and exercise. She gave her a book to read for fun, and made a suggestion of a book that could help her focus better with exercise. This did inspire my daughter, because she came home from their session and she immediately asked to go to the book store so she could buy copies for herself. She also had a plan set in place to read, exercise and make time for proper studying while at school. Randi had great suggestions and simple strategies that sparked her interest, and that's all it took to get her on her way!
Thank you Randi.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have over four years experience working with ADHD youth as an educational coach for a residential treatment program. This program was a long-term residential treatment center for teens and adolescents struggling with mental health disorders. My main goals with these students are time management, planning, organization, studying and test-taking skills.
During my time as a college coordinator/educational coach I helped many students with career development. I would regularly schedule students with the career center on the college campus and so am familiar with the online Career Information System and tests available for career exploration. My education as a social worker has also provided me with experience in career development as well.
I have five years experience working with college students. I have assisted them in the process of applying for, and transfering to, colleges and universities around the country. I have also helped them obtain supports necessary on campus for those who had an IEP, and advised them on college degree requirements.
The majority of my time spent working with college and high school students has been centered around developing study and/or test-taking skills, as well as time management and organizational skills building.
