Oakwood University (English)
Andrews University (Master's)
Writing is something I have loved since I was a kid. English was always one of my best subjects in school (math was my worst). I like to write poetry and songs in my spare time. I graduated from Oakwood University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. After graduating, I proofread many entrance essays and personal statements. I had known that I was good at editing, but I was surprised to learn how much I enjoyed helping others improve their writing. While I was in graduate school, I had the privilege of working on the team of one of my university's journals (Andrews University Seminary Studies). One of the highlights of my former job was editing articles (getting paid to read). I felt rewarded by catching and correcting errors. It is important to me to aid individuals in expressing their thoughts effectively and making them look good by helping them polish their work. As a side job, I tutored ASL students in writing.
I graduated with a Masters In Divinity from Andrews University in 2015 (after writing tons of papers). Currently I am a Youth Pastor. English is still one of my passions. I use it in sermon writing (much like essay writing) and my lesson planning. I have made this profile in hopes of creating opportunities for tutoring English as a side job.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
