I tutored for a over two years at Southern New Hampshire University and earned my Master Tutor Certification by meeting the College Reading & Learning Association Requirements. I was promoted to position of Lead Writing Tutor for my outstanding work with undergraduate and graduate domestic and international (ESL) students as well as my approachable demeanor and usefulness as a resource. I held walk-in hours, met with students on a one-to-one basis, acted as classroom assistant and offered in and out of class aid to students, facilitated a program for ESL students to improve English speaking and writing, ran training workshops for style formatting, grammar and syntax, and organized study groups for various art history courses.

I understand the importance of a great working relationship between tutor and tutee. A strong, equal relationship is created first through comfortability, and then by instilling a belief in the tutee that they DO have the ability to posses the knowledge and skills they desire. The tutee has the ability; I'm here to help them find it regardless of age or beginning skill level.

I've successfully aided a diverse array of students in all areas of English, as well as Art History. I've labored over my technical skills and have curated ways of communicating rules of English, grammar, syntax, proofreading in understandable, non-clinical ways (ex. Treat commas as breaths. Does it sound funny when you take a breath in the middle of the sentence? Then the comma likely doesn't belong.) I mold my teaching style to whatever is most beneficial to the tutee.

There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a person progress in understanding. I become invested in every tutee and, historically, if they see how much I care, it will make them more invested in themselves and they will succeed to the best of their abilities
