About Brian

I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate from Duke University with a minor in history. I am currently employed full time, and have two kids of my own. I have lectured in a University setting as a graduate student at Virginia Tech. When I'm not working I can usually be found curled up with a book or out enjoying the outdoors with my family.

Through helping my kids and the work I did at VT I found that I truly enjoy helping students learn and reach their academic potential.

I've always been excellent at math, and have been the go-to for many of my friends and family over the years. I've recently had more experience with elementary and middle school math and science, but I tutored math all four years I was in high school. I'm also familiar with Common Core

I would love to teach students of any background and age. Please contact me to discuss and iron out any details or questions that you may have!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 2

I have been tutoring math since I was in high school, I have lectured at the undergraduate level and I am fully equipped to help your child through Algebra 2 and beyond.

Elementary Math

I have been tutoring math since I was in high school, and have recently been helping my own daughter through elementary math. I am familiar with Common Core and the benchmarks children are expected to meet by grade level.

We are having Brian come back.

Brian was working with my son to better understand "truss forces", Math, Trig. etc. Brian is coming back. Brian is going to make some test questions for my son to solve. Brian will work with my son to make sure he understands the process, not just you got the question correct or not.
