As a 2004 undergraduate of the University of Ukraine, Odessa (Early Childhood Education), and a 2011 graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno (Special Education K-12), I have a diverse background with much to offer. I have more than 500 hours of experiences in teaching Russian language to students of different ages (including native speakers of Russian); 80 hours of practicum experiences in public education system K-12; a full semester of student teaching experiences K-12; and a semester of contracted teaching experiences with special education students pre-K - 12 grades, in urban and suburban school districts. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am highly qualified and certified through the state of Idaho to teach k-6 grades. Currently I am teaching grades 3 through 8 at Robert Janss School (Idaho Department of Correction). I work with variety of students such as students with special needs, typically developing and those that have never had formal education in their past. I am teaching all subjects including math, language arts, social studies and science.
I am a special education teacher (MEd). I have over 7 years of teaching K-12 students with special needs. Phonics is a common problem for many of my students, especially in lower grades. In order to improve students' reading skills, I teach phonics explicitly using variety of scientifically based strategies.
