Statistics or College Statistics (a.k.a. "Business Analytics" in MBA programs) Algebra & Precalculus, Geometry, Trigonometry, or Calculus I

As of 9/23/2018 I also have 130+ hours of online instruction using Wyzant's online platform. It has a virtual whiteboard with unlimited tabs that will clearly get the point across. You can save picture files of the whiteboard afterwards. I have tutored students in 21 states and a foreign country with the help of Wyzant's online tool.

** Most hours of any Des Moines area Wyzant tutor in 2017 (159 hours) **

I have a master's degree and work as a credentialed actuary (ACAS) at Chubb Insurance so I am am an expert with Excel spreadsheets as well. In my free time I like to play bridge competitively and go for leisurely walks around the neighborhood.

Finite Math,

Finite Math

Regarding my qualifications to tutor in finite math, I have experience tutoring on functions, linear regression and applications. I have also tutored systems of equations and linear programming successfully. I taught probability, random variables, and set theory at Drake University twice. I have a sufficient understanding of linear algebra, having taken two courses in the subject in college, but it is a topic that doesn't come up every day. With regards to finance, I got an A in an MBA finance course and also have passed actuarial exams relating to interest theory. I will certainly be able to tutor the subject matter in finite math.

I have taught probability classes for actuarial science majors at Drake University in the past. Basic probability has also been a topic within introductory statistics classes I have taught.

Above and Beyond

I reached out to Richard on a Sunday night to help my daughter with AP Calculus AB and when he realized they had a poor connection, he offered to come to our home because she had a test the next day and was in desperate need of help. He was at our house from 9 - 11 PM! Unbelievable. A huge shout out and thanks.

Excellent problem solver!

I really enjoyed Richard's tutorial on how to bypass lengthy steps to get straight to the results and build a representative graph used for statistical analyses. I highly recommend Richard!

Super Guy!!

He was available sort of last minute for me. Richard was patient and kind. Though there may have been moments of frustration from my end, he reassured me that I could get the problem that I was working on.

Great tutor!

Richard was a great help when I was at a frustrated and stressed out spot with statistics. He was patient, kind, and helped me begin to understand concepts I was ready to give up on. He also helped me feel comfortable with online tutoring when I was apprehensive.

Statistics

Robert was very patient and very knowledgeable on the subject. He knows how to explain the material so that you can understand. There were concepts that I struggled with but Richard helped me to connect the dots. I will definitely use again!

Thank You

You took on a impossible task and worked with us. Thank you for your help. With little preparation, or information to work with, he worked with our son the very best he could. Thank you.

Very knowledgeable regarding statistics.

I came to Richard totally unconfident about my statistics final. By the end of our session, a lot of topics I was having difficulty with were cleared up and he made me aware of the mistakes that I was making, and how to resolve them!

Helped on short notice work with special needs student

My college age son was struggling with calculus. Richard stepped up the challenge immediately -- like within 24 hours -- and helped my son study but also realistically looked at the possibilities for his grades. This was valuable coming from someone other than a parent. I am thankful for Richard's understanding and willingness to help my son.
