I am a professional tutor with a scientific educational and professional background. I enjoy helping students come to their "light bulb" moment where the dots connect, and a difficult topic starts to make sense for them.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and my college studies included extensive advanced scientific and mathematics in Physics, Calculus, Chemistry, and Biology. This educational experience gives me the flexibility to tutor many topics. Immediately after graduating with a degree in chemistry, I took a position in a professional lab environment, and my professional experience has given me the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages and learning styles.

As a professional tutor, I have experience in identifying learning styles, and focusing the tutoring session to meet the needs of the student. I tutor one-on-one and in small groups, covering mathematical and scientific topics. The foundation for my tutoring style is clear expectations, dynamic conversation, and teaching aids to engage my students in focused learning. I'm able to assist with homework and test preparations to help drive greater depth of understanding and critical thinking, and help my student feel comfortable and prepared with their coursework.

Amazing Tutor!!

I have been working with Catherine since September of this year. She has helped me primarily with my inorganic chemistry courses. She is clear, patient, caring and really helped me understand the material. My grades have improved when I studied with her. She organizes the information in an easy way to understand. She makes the lessons interesting as well! Overall, an A+ tutor! Thank you Catherine!!!

Catherine goes above and beyond!

Catherine seems very committed to helping my son meet his goals with Algebra and Reading Comprehension. She conducted her own research about the specialty test my son is preparing for prior to his appointment. It puts me at ease knowing she is so involved and committed to helping him succeed! She is very kind and patient, exactly what we were looking for!

Sharpening reading skills

Catherine has been teaming up with my 8 year old. Jayden was behind 3 reading levels and the school recommended that she was held back. Catherine has been helping to break down the mental walls Jayden had with reading since September. Her report card this month showes that Jayden is equal to her peers for reading. She is no longer required to be in special classes at school. Jayden absolutely loves spending time with Catherine and always has a smile on her face when the session is over.

She continues to be a huge help

Catherine comes prepared to every meeting, she is always willing to be flexible, or work with me to find more times if needed. More importantly she is committed to helping me understand the concepts and details as thoroughly as possible. She does this by presenting the same idea to me many different ways and asking questions along the way as well for me to explain back. She is a great tutor and I am loving working with her and her help is continuously beneficial to me. I hope I can make her proud on my test tomorrow.

Fantastic tutor for our daughter!

We contacted Catherine when our usual tutor cancelled, and she was available at the last minute to help our 7 year old, Audrey, with Math. I gave her a breakdown of what was needed, which was help on counting money and estimating. Catherine showed up with worksheets, change to count money, and made flash cards with Audrey at the end of the lesson. She told us what they worked on and areas we can focus on more, and left the flash cards for us to use at home. Exceptional job!

First meeting.

Catherine was excellent at our first meeting. She introduced herself, then went straight into the lesson. Then provided us with a summary right after the lesson.

There is more than one way to get the answer

My daughter was struggling with Algebra II and getting to the answer. The instructor at her school had only one way of getting to the answer. Catherine showed my daughter there were other ways, some may be easier. Sure enough, the next day there was a quiz and my daughter got the answers right but in a more efficient manner that made sense to HER. When she was asked how she got the answer that way, my daughter told the instructor that her tutor, Catherine showed her. Needless to say, he was surprised. I'm so happy to see her not struggle for the first time in a long time.
